Robin Vincent

Robin Vincent has been working and volunteering in various animal-related fields since 2004, including roles in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, conservation, animal husbandry at zoos and aquariums, laboratory animal research, and animal sheltering. After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Biology, she worked in a small animal private practice where, in addition to her role as a veterinary technician, she organized fundraisers to support the clinic’s charity and improved hospital efficiencies.

Her animal sheltering roles include Executive Director of the Paris Animal Welfare Society, a rural Kentucky, open-admission shelter which took in 2,000 animals a year and held the animal control contract. In her four years as ED, Robin increased the live-release rate from 58% to 85%, balanced a budget that operated $125,000 per year in the red prior to her start, established foster, volunteer, and community outreach programs, participated animal abuse and neglect cases, and started the county’s first public, low-cost spay/neuter clinics. Robin also served as the Director of Shelter Operations for the Kentucky Humane Society, a non-profit organization that is Kentucky’s largest pet adoption agency. In her Operations role, Robin oversaw the growth of the adoptions, medical, behavior, and foster programs which compromised of 60+ staff members, was responsible for a 2.5 million dollar operating budget, provided leadership for strategic planning, developed programs and relationships including a partnership with Lincoln Memorial University to host veterinary student rotations and a wildly successful partnership with Purrfect Day Café which resulted in over 5,000 feline adoptions in three years.

Robin is a consultant with JVR Strategies, providing input and training related to shelter operations and strategic planning. She utilizes her experience in veterinary medicine, logistics, best practices, fiscal administration and oversight, and program development and evaluation to solve problems and improve structures around processes. She applies innovation and technology solutions in service of creating more efficient and effective systems.

In addition to her role at JVR Strategies, Robin also participates in several HASS working groups. She is interested in the growing movement to keep pets and people together and is especially passionate about issues around access to veterinary care and DEI in animal welfare organizations. Robin currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband, four-year-old daughter, and their dog.
